Hack the Kitchen: Rules & Code of Conduct
To ensure a fair, safe, and inclusive hackathon experience for everyone, we ask all participants to adhere to the following rules and code of conduct:
Hackathon Rules

Eligibility:
- The hackathon is open to all currently enrolled university students in Kenya.
- Participants can form teams of 2-4 members.
- All team members must register individually on Devpost.

Originality:
- All project submissions must be original work created during the hackathon.
- You may use open-source libraries and frameworks, but all other code and design elements should be your own.

Intellectual Property:
- Participants retain ownership of all intellectual property they create during the hackathon.
- By participating, you agree to grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your project for promotional purposes.

Judging:
- Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the criteria outlined in the Submission Requirements.
- The judges' decisions are final.

Prizes:
- Prizes will be awarded to the top teams, as determined by the judges.
- Prizes may include cash, tech products, or other relevant rewards.

Conduct:
- All participants are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct outlined below.
- Any violation of the rules or code of conduct may result in disqualification.
Code of Conduct
Hack the Kitchen is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants. We expect everyone to treat each other with respect and consideration.

- Use welcoming and inclusive language.
- Be considerate of differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Gracefully accept constructive criticism.
- Focus on what we can learn from each other.
- Show courtesy and respect towards other participants, mentors, judges, and staff.

- Share your knowledge and skills with others.
- Be open to learning from your teammates and fellow participants.
- Celebrate each other's successes.

- Refrain from using offensive or discriminatory language or behavior.
- Avoid any actions that could be considered harassment or discrimination.
- Respect the intellectual property of others.
- Do not engage in any activities that could disrupt the hackathon or create a hostile environment.
Reporting Violations:
If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this code of conduct, please report it to a member of the organizing team. We will take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly.
By participating in Hack the Kitchen, you agree to abide by these rules and code of conduct.
